Sonardyne was founded in 1971 with the vision of improving the safety and efficiency of underwater navigation for divers in the North Sea. Acoustic Positioning

From shallow to deep, our Fusion 2 Long BaseLine (LBL) and Ranger 2 Ultra-Short BaseLine (USBL) acoustic positioning systems set the benchmark for performance and reliability - helping to precisely navigate underwater vehicles, install subsea structures and position surface vessel in any water depth.

Inertial Navigation & Motion Sensing

With a track record spanning more than 10 years, our inertial navigation family has evolved to meet the needs of any subsea guidance and navigation application. Leading the way is SPRINT-Nav; an all-in-one subsea hybrid acoustic and inertial navigation system for ROVs and AUVs providing class-leading performance as good as a fraction of a metre over many kilometres travelled.

Sonar Imaging

We have re-defined what is possible to achieve with high resolution imaging and detection sonars. Our Sentinel technology is helping to protect waterside facilities and vessels from the threat of underwater attack; Solstice enables autonomous underwater vehicles to gather pixel-perfect imaging of the seabed, whilst Sentry can monitor a billion cubic feet of water for the smallest hydrocarbon leak. Our latest generation Navigation, Obstacle Avoidance Sonar (NOAS) provides an aid to vessels navigating in uncertain waters, detecting potential grounding and collision hazards beneath the waves.

Wireless Communications

6G acoustic and BlueComm high speed optical communication systems can be used for the extraction of large amounts of stored data from long-endurance subsea sensors or even the transmission of high definition imagery and real-time video. The possibilities are vast, from our recent ground-breaking project with the Nekton Foundation to monitor endangered habitats infront of a live global television audience, to enabling autonomous surface vessels to harvesting large amounts of data from subsea vehicles without anyone stepping out of their office.
