Maritime Autonomous Systems Group
Maritime Autonomous Systems (MAS) are rapidly changing the face of operations across the whole maritime sector, including oceanography, offshore energy, defence, marine resources and leisure. Consequently, the MAS Group (MASG) includes a wide range of SMI members who are working together to navigate this fast-changing world. These members range from research institutes, through vehicle, system and sensor manufacturers, to companies that are applying MAS operationally to transform the maritime environment.
The MASG is coordinated by a council that has an ambitious work plan, with the following priorities:
- Infrastructure, Supply Chain and Facilities – understanding and supporting the MAS value chain.
- STEM and people – shaping our future MAS workforce. e.g. MASG has launched the MAChallenge.
- Regulatory – developing a regulatory framework that facilitates MAS operations. e.g. MASG participates in the work of the MAS Regulatory Working Group (MASRWG).
- Doing Business – enabling MASG members to better exploit the MAS market through networking and connecting them with new business opportunities. e.g. MASG organises and supports regular briefing events, as well as supporting participation in international trade shows and missions.
The Maritime Autonomous Systems Group (MASG) Council sets the policy and guides the activities for this market area, utilising the extensive expertise of its council members. A list of council members can be found here.
