Ports & Terminals Group

This market area provides the focus for the members of the Society of Maritime Industries with interests in the development and operation of ports and terminals and the associated logistics activities and facilities. 

It brings together technical and management skills in support of design, planning, structural engineering, construction, financing, development and operation of new and existing facilities.  Participants in the group’s activities include port owners and operators; shippers; freight forwarders; planners; specialist engineering, design and technical consultancies; international contractors; manufacturers of a variety of port and terminal equipment; banks and financiers; accountants; insurance brokers and law firms.

Activities include:

• Sector specific outward trade missions to new, developing and established trade markets often in association with DIT
• Facilitating member meetings with inward missions of delegates from overseas markets seeking UK capability in the development and operation of their ports and terminals
• A regular programme of meetings on various aspects of port development and operations with senior high calibre speakers.  Some of these meetings are restricted to members only
• Assistance with sourcing relevant contacts within the industry
