Description:

Formed in 1971, The Nautical Institute is an international professional body which aims to encourage and promote a high standard of qualification, competence and knowledge for those involved in the control of seagoing craft. The Institute’s worldwide branch network runs CPD programmes and is represented as an NGO at the IMO, on governmental committees, standards institutions, industry committees and the mass media.  

The Nautical Institute runs a number of self-development Certificate and Diploma schemes for the nautical profession, including the industry standard Dynamic Positioning Certificate. It also publishes technical, best practice books and proceedings, and provides the freely available The Navigator magazine for today’s professional marine navigators and the confidential Mariners’ Alerting & Reporting Scheme (MARS). Seaways is the monthly journal of The Nautical Institute, is recognised as one of the leading maritime journals.
