Merseyside’s Top Engineering Apprentices Celebrated at Awards Evening
The dedication and talent of fourteen engineering apprentices from Wirral and the wider Liverpool City Region was celebrated last Thursday, at a glittering awards ceremony hosted by The Engineering College. The theme for this year’s awards evening was “Making a Difference”, in recognition that apprentices at The Engineering College are developing vital skills by working on some of the largest engineering programmes in the maritime and construction sectors.

Maritime Defence and Security Group Visit to Portsmouth
This week, the Maritime Defence and Security Group Council, along with representatives from other member companies, conducted a two-day visit to Portsmouth. The visit was held on Monday and Tuesday, 27th and 28th November 2023. The group participated in various activities during the visit, such as briefs and tours at Portsdown Technology Park and the Maritime Integration and Systems Centre. They also enjoyed dinner in the Historic Dockyard and visited Navy Command Headquarters, including an MDSG Council Meeting.

Royal Navy Seeks Insights on Augmented Reality for Naval Ship Bridges
In a forward-looking move, the Royal Navy has initiated an exploration into the potential applications of Augmented Reality (AR) technology on Naval Ship Bridges. This development is part of the NavyX Augmented Reality in Ships Bridge Operations project. As of now, the Royal Navy has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to industry experts, inviting insights and proposals on the innovative use of AR in ship operations. Responses to this RFI must be submitted by 12:00 on Tuesday, 19th December 2023. Royal Navy Seeks Input on Safety-Critical Data Analysis
The Royal Navy has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to industry experts for insights into analysing safety-critical information within the Navy Lessons Information Management System (NLIMS), slated for retirement. Holding 37,000 safety-critical records, NLIMS will be replaced or integrated into the Defence Unified Reporting and Learning System.
