UK Maritime Minister Injects £33 Million for Green Ports and Ships

Maritime Minister Lord Davies has announced a £33 million boost for green ports and ships in the UK, accelerating our race to decarbonise the sector. This funding, part of the Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition (CMDC), brings the total to £128 million, supporting projects dedicated to constructing electric vessels and charging ports.
Tom Chant MBE said “Congratulations to all the winners of CMDC round 4 funding. It is so important that this funding continues to drive the development of green solutions. Innovation in the maritime engineering space is truly alive and kicking”.
Winning initiatives are set to transform the landscape with electric chargepoints and vessels, contributing to sustainable maritime innovation. These projects, spanning all twelve UK regions, position the UK as a leader in emerging clean maritime technologies, fostering high-skilled jobs and boosting coastal economies.
The funding comes from the £206 million UK Shipping Office for Reducing Emissions (UK SHORE) programme, emphasising the government's commitment to supporting green technology.
