The Society of Maritime Industries (SMI) Welcomes Alfa Laval as a Bronze Sponsor of the SMI Conference 2026

Alfa Laval has been announced as a Bronze Sponsor of the SMI Conference 2026, reinforcing its support for industry collaboration at SMI’s flagship event. Taking place on 17 February 2026 in Glasgow at the University of Strathclyde’s Technology and Innovation Centre, the conference will convene senior figures from industry, government and the wider maritime community to examine the key challenges and opportunities facing the sector. With decarbonisation, innovation and regulatory compliance high on the agenda, the event offers a vital forum for discussion, insight sharing and collaboration across the UK maritime industry.
Alfa Laval supports ship owners, operators and builders in meeting the demands of today’s maritime landscape while preparing for tomorrow. With more than a century of marine expertise, the company delivers reliable solutions in heat transfer, separation and fluid handling that enhance operational efficiency, enable confident compliance with marine legislation, and reduce environmental impact. Alfa Laval’s technologies play a key role in supporting the transition to low- and zero-carbon fuels, including marine biofuels, LNG and methanol, alongside the move towards smarter, more connected operations. Sustainability is integral to Alfa Laval’s approach, guiding the development of solutions and services that help customers decarbonise, save energy and comply with evolving environmental regulations.
As part of the conference programme, the SMI Conference will welcome Tristan Matthews, Head of Marine Division UK, Ireland & Nordics at Alfa Laval, as a speaker in the Clean Maritime Innovation and Global Competitiveness session, presenting on “Leading the Maritime Transition: Innovation, Efficiency, and Environmental Stewardship in the UK”. Drawing on Alfa Laval’s extensive global experience in developing and implementing sustainable maritime technologies, as well as his own leadership across international markets, Tristan will share practical insight into how innovation, operational efficiency and environmental responsibility are being translated into real-world solutions across the global maritime sector, and what this means for the UK’s maritime transition.
Commenting on Alfa Laval’s involvement, Tom Chant MBE, Chief Executive of the Society of Maritime Industries, said:
“We are pleased to welcome Alfa Laval as a Bronze Sponsor of the SMI Conference 2026. Alfa Laval is an active and valued member of our community, and we are grateful for their continued support of the conference and their ongoing engagement across SMI’s wider event programme.”
Tristan Matthews, Head of Marine Division UK, Ireland & Nordics, Alfa Laval said:
"We are pleased to announce our support for the SMI Conference 2026 as a sponsor and as a speaker. Alfa Laval is committed to contributing to an innovative, efficient and sustainable future for the maritime industry, and the SMI Conference is one way for us to meet with our partners, customers and key industry figures and share meaningful dialogue. We engage with several SMI programs, and are looking forward to the Conference in February".
Alfa Laval’s support of the SMI Conference reflects its commitment to engaging with the wider maritime community and contributing to the shared goal of a more innovative, efficient and sustainable maritime future.
