Society of Maritime Industries Digital Technology Survey
Introduction
The Digital Technology Group of the Society of Maritime Industries provides a focus for member companies on the impact of digital technologies across the industry. It seeks to share awareness and understanding of advanced digital technologies and how best to exploit them.
From the ubiquitous digital twin to VR/AR, big data and AI, advanced digital technologies are set to transform manufacturing and business processes and production across every sector. The benefits are wide reaching and can impact across the product lifecycle from manufacturing to through life support. But which are the best technologies to adopt for your business and what is the best way to go about it?
The refresh of the National Shipbuilding Strategy has brought fresh focus across the entire enterprise from shipbuilding and ship repair to equipment, systems and services. It has also highlighted the need to leverage cross sector innovation and invest in digital technologies.
From the biggest primes to the smallest SMEs, companies need to devise digital strategies to transform their business and work with others throughout their supply chains to truly realise the end to end benefits possible.
