SMI's Week at Kormarine 2023
Kormarine 2023 began with a strong start as we had the pleasure of attending the official opening ceremony and our team also attended the UK-Korea Maritime Reception. The event featured insights from the British Ambassador to South Korea, Colin Crooks LVO, and John Hutchinson, Head of Maritime at DBT, who shared their perspectives on the opportunities within the maritime sector.
SMI, the official organizer of the UK Pavilion, worked with the DBT to support 24 participating companies. These companies showcased their expertise and contributions to the maritime industry.
The second day of Kormarine began with a flying start as Helen Stephen welcomed both the UK Group and Korean guests to the SMI Breakfast networking reception in the UK Pavilion. Tony Clemson, Country Director at the Department for Business and Trade also addressed the group. He emphasised the UK/Korean trading heritage and the need to collaborate with key maritime economies to drive change.
On day 3 we hosted the 'Innovation Insights: UK Technology Driving Maritime Change' seminar at Kormarine 2023. In partnership with the Department for Business and Trade (DBT), we showcased some of the most cutting-edge UK engineering and advanced technologies propelling the maritime industry forward.
Our event focused on innovations paving the way for a more sustainable maritime future, with a particular emphasis on sustainable vessel propulsion and industrial software solutions driving digital transformation.
