Polaris Wins Collection of New International Clients
Polaris Media the Cheshire based maritime and engineering specialist PR firm is growing overseas after winning a collection of new international clients.
Polaris has struck new agreements with one of China’s biggest shipyards Guangzhou Shipyard International, near Hong Kong, as well as two new American maritime clients the Ohio manufacturer Advanced Polymer Coatings and Rhode Island tech start up Attender Go, part owned by Moran Shipping. In addition, Polaris was appointed by Atlantic Container Line, the New Jersey, USA and Liverpool based shipping line to help commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Falklands War in Liverpool and it has won work with Turkish tech firm Maritime Trainer based in Istanbul.
Separately Polaris director Ben Pinnington was recently a shortlisted finalist at the Business Book Awards in London for his book Making Waves: ‘PR strategies to transform your maritime business’. The book, published by Rethink Press, is an Amazon best seller and Polaris has exhibited the book at trade fairs in America and Europe.
“It’s brilliant to welcome new business from around the world,” he said. “We’ve worked hard to build expertise in the maritime industry over the last 11 years working with businesses in the UK, Gulf, Europe, America, China and India. Today there is a growing understanding that the sector has to improve its approach to communications. There is a shift of mindset as decarbonisation, ESG, and social media is making organisations think more deeply about reputation management.”
Pinnington said Polaris now generates around half its turnover from exports.
“Having an international contacts book is proving more valuable as we can share opportunities within our network,” he said. “Ease of communication with clients around the world and an abundance of digital media with an international reach enables us to raise awareness more efficiently. This solves a big problem for exporter clients who want a global profile in the English language media.”
Polaris’ clients include the Isle of Man Ship Registry, China Classification Society, Liverpool Seafarers Centre, Roxtec, Griffon Hoverwork, the Society of Maritime Industries and Hero Cycles. The company was voted Professional Services Business of the Year at the Mersey Maritime Industry Awards in 2020 and was a shortlisted finalist in 2021. Polaris delivers a range of PR services including media relations, strategy, crisis management, social media campaigns, creative design and websites and business development.
