The National Training Institute announces new CEO
The National Training Institute, Oman is delighted to announce the appointment of Turkiya Al Hasni as CEO, succeeding Lawrence Alva, who is retiring.
Owned by the Babcock International Group, the National Training Institute delivers high-quality technical and HSE training solutions to the energy, oil and gas and engineering sectors in Oman, in addition to an extensive range of bespoke and vocational technical training for the private and public sectors. Already one of the leading training organisations in Oman, NTI runs around 125 courses for 45,000 students each year, and is looking at the integration of digital technology to boost its virtual classroom capability.
Since joining NTI as an intern in 1994, and most recently the Human Resources Director, Turkiya has been a key member of the NTI management team for a number of years. Her extensive knowledge of the organisation, the wider training sector and Omani statutory law means she is ideally placed to drive growth across a challenging market, which has been affected by fluctuating oil prices and the impacts of COVID-19.
Turkiya completed her undergraduate degree in Business Administration - Human Resources from the University of Bedfordshire, UK, and has a master's degree from Strathclyde University, Scotland in Business Administration - Strategy.
Talking about her new role, Turkiya, said:
“I’m excited to set the direction for the business, allowing a renewed focus on customer needs as we continue to grow our organisation and adapt to current market conditions. We have a fantastic team ready to meet that challenge and it’s a proud moment for me to lead NTI.”
Supporting this, Alastair Stangroom, Managing Director Babcock Oman, said:
“Turkiya has displayed tremendous leadership throughout her career and has built up a rich bank of experience and knowledge, not only of the business but the markets that we operate in. I’m delighted that she will lead NTI as CEO, she is a great asset.”
NTI operates across Oman and links closely with Babcock’s Duqm Naval Base joint venture with the Oman Drydock Company (ODC). Meaning the company is uniquely placed to offer customer solutions across training, maintenance and repair through the Middle East region.
