Maritime Trade Mission to South Korea: Green & Offshore Korea

12 – 14 October 2022
The Department for International Trade in South Korea invites British maritime companies to join a trade mission to Green & Offshore Korea 2022 in Busan, South Korea. Green & Offshore Korea is one of the largest maritime trade shows in Asia. Notably, it is sponsored by the world’s top three shipyards - Hyundai Heavy Industries, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering and Samsung Heavy Industries. This provides an outstanding platform to showcase British maritime excellence to potential clients and business partners.
Why South Korea?
South Korea is one of the most advanced and important shipbuilding countries globally, currently ranking number one for new shipbuilding orders. In the first half of 2022, Korea accounted for 46% of the 9.79 million CGT of global orders. This strong performance is driven by high value-added shipbuilding including LNG carriers, VLCC and eco-friendly vessels, where Korea captured 61% of orders globally. According to current orders, the world’s top four shipyards are all Korean (Samsung Heavy Industries, Hyundai Heavy Industries, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering and Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries).
South Korea has recently announced significant investments in digitalisation and decarbonisation across the marine landscape, including shipbuilding, ports, and offshore energy. These investments present strong opportunities for British companies with innovative technologies and proven excellence.
Core Activity
The Department for International Trade (DIT) in Korea is proud to offer a fantastic opportunity for UK companies to promote their innovative maritime technologies and services to the Korean market, and meet with potential clients and business partners. The UK National Pavilion at Green & Offshore Korea will provide trade mission participants with individual stands and meeting facilities. DIT Korea will support pre-arranged and on-site business meetings at the UK National Pavilion, supported by our dedicated Korean Maritime Specialist. DIT will also provide additional business networking and marketing opportunities during Green & Offshore Korea.
Costs & Travel
All participants are responsible for their own flights, accommodation, local transport and subsistence. DIT Korea will provide a standard booth for each participating UK company, and produce a mission directory and other marketing materials. Please do not make any travel arrangements prior to confirmation of your place on the trade mission.
Registration
If you are interested in learning more about this trade mission, please contact Ms Hyekyung Suh, Maritime Trade Officer, DIT Korea at Hyekyung.Suh(at)fcdo.gov.uk before 2 September. DIT will receive exhibition requests until 13 September 2022.
