Kinsetsu’s ktrack technology – hailed for ‘unheard of’ success by the Royal Navy – to be showcased at DSEI
Heralded by the Royal Navy for ‘unheard of levels of success’ within a trial, the ktrack platform will be one of the innovative solutions that smaller businesses will display within DSEI’s United Naval Zone. Kinsetsu’s “Internet of Things” and “Internet of Battlefield Things” solutions are sure to be a talking point among all who visit.
Designed by Belfast company Kinsetsu, ktrack technology reduces the Risk to Life (RtL) of Souls on Board and will be one of the showpiece displays at a shared stand. Kinsetsu worked collaboratively with the Royal Navy, testing the ktrack platform onboard the Royal Navy's HMS Queen Elizabeth (QNLZ) and HMS Prince of Wales (PWLS) carriers.
Of that test, Lieutenant Commander Glen Kerrigan, Capital Ships Weapon Engineer in the Royal Navy said the results "exceeded expectations".
"This capability is now providing positive evidence that technology can reduce the Risk to Life (RtL) of Souls on Board and is being used as the primary accounting method on HMS Queen Elizabeth for her global deployment Op Fortis," Kerrigan continued.
"To achieve this success on a strategic defence platform in a highly demanding environment is remarkable for any project; to get this far from a tech demo project is unheard of and has been the result of solid collaboration across defence organisations and suppliers."
For naval buyers, the technology takes the "search" out of accounting for and locating naval crew, embarked forces, and visitors on the UK's QE Class Carriers.
It enables rapid check-in at gangways and flight deck and provides historic traceability of all ingress and egress movements, significantly reducing the time to muster on these large vessels and improving safety for all who serve on them.
In addition within the maritime space it is used to gain immediate insight to air quality and to protect lone workers. The same platform enhances operations for defence prime contractors, automating thousands of common tasks to release personnel time, improve safety, ensure compliance, reduce risk and lower service overheads.
Kinsetsu hope that exhibiting at DSEI will help them to reach a wider audience:
“Kinsetsu is delighted to be exhibiting with SMI at DSEI 2023, at the forefront of naval, ports and harbour innovation within the United Naval Zone,” a senior source said.
Organised by the Society of Maritime Industries (SMI), the combined area will increase the reach of eight innovative members by creating a compelling destination in a huge event featuring close to 3,000 defence and security suppliers.
“We are excited to showcase our IoT and Internet of Battlefield Things (IoBT) solutions along with nearly 3,000 other defence and security suppliers.
