Help Shape the Future of Digital Navigation: Take the S-100 Readiness Survey

As digital navigation evolves, the S-100 framework will eventually change how marine data is structured, accessed, and used. But you don’t need to rush out and buy a new ECDIS.
According to IMO guidance on timings, S-100-compliant ECDIS can be fitted from 2026, with carriage becoming mandatory for new systems from 2029 at which time, S-57 ENCs will still be supported.
The UKHO is simply working to support industry preparedness early during this transition period to ensure timely awareness, preparation, and collaboration. As part of this support role during the transition, the UKHO is conducting global research aimed at gathering critical insights from maritime professionals.
UKMO's survey is designed to assess industry readiness for S-100. They plan to share its findings and use them to better understand how S-100 can be effectively implemented to benefit the global maritime community.
Why your voice matters
S-100 products may not be widely available in the market just yet, but the time to prepare is now. By participating in this survey, you're contributing to:
- Identifying knowledge gaps and levels of awareness around S-100.
- Highlighting potential barriers to adoption and implementation.
- Supporting the development of resources that will ease the transition to this new standard.
Take the survey
The survey is being distributed through an exclusive media partnership with Seatrade Maritime News. Whether you're familiar with S-100 or just beginning to explore its potential impact, your input is valuable.
Together, we can shape a smarter, safer, and more connected future for digital navigation.
