Director Wins RoSPA Distinguished Service Award
Cammell Laird and Atlantic and Peninsula Marine Services Group’s HSEQ Director, Kevin Peart, has won a Distinguished Service Award from RoSPA in recognition of his long term and sustained contribution to improving health and safety.
Kevin joined A&P in 2015 and was promoted to A&P Group HSEQ Director three years later. During this time, Kevin has significantly improved A&P’s health and safety credentials.
Kevin’s achievements have included:
- Helping to reduce A&P’s accident/incident frequency rate by more than 400%;
- Securing a RoSPA Gold Award for A&P Group in 2019;
- Helping to secure the RoSPA Commended in the Engineering Services Sector in 2020;
- Achieving ISO 9001:2015 and 14001:2015 with no non-conformances raised;
- Securing Fit for Nuclear status at A&P Falmouth; and
- Implementation of the behavioural safety programme Work Safe, Home Safe.
Julia Small, Head of Qualifications, Awards and Events at RoSPA, said:
“The RoSPA Awards scheme is the longest-running of its kind in the UK, but it receives entries from organisations around the world, making it one of the most sought-after global accolades in health and safety."
Julia continued:
“RoSPA wants every employee, wherever they are, to work safe in the knowledge that they will be going home unharmed and healthy at the end of every day. The RoSPA Award winners are vital to help achieve this goal, as by entering they are driving up standards and setting new benchmarks for organisations everywhere.”
David McGinley, Chief Executive Officer of Cammell Laird Ship Repairers and Shipbuilders and Atlantic and Peninsula Marine Services, said:
“Kevin has had a long career committed to safety and has been instrumental in changing the safety culture at A&P Group. Kevin has been the driving force behind our Work Safe, Home Safe behavioural safety values initiative, which has changed the behaviour of the A&P workforce, management and supply chain.”
Kevin holds a distinguished track record in the RoSPA Awards, having won in both the Facilities Management, Healthcare and Defence sectors. Kevin has also recently been appointed as Group HSEQ Director for Cammell Laird and Atlantic and Peninsular Marine Services, which means Kevin is now responsible for managing HSEQ across Cammell Laird in addition to A&P Group, FDEC and Atlantic and Peninsula Australia. Kevin will work to ensure that successful HSEQ initiatives are managed and replicated across both businesses to ensure consistent delivery and continuous improvement.
Kevin Peart, HSEQ Director for Cammell Laird and Atlantic and Peninsula Marine Services, said:
“I am immensely proud to have won the Distinguished Service Award. HSEQ is at the heart of everything we do at Cammell Laird and Atlantic and Peninsula Marine Services and providing a safe and secure environment for all our staff, customers and visitors is of the utmost importance. We have a great HSEQ team in the business and their dedication and support helps me ensure we continue to develop our safety culture.”
