BMT Recognised Again in the Financial Times UK’s Leading Management Consultants & Consulting Networks List 2026

BMT Recognised Again in the Financial Times UK’s Leading Management Consultants & Consulting Networks List 2026

BMT has once again been named in the Financial Times UK’s Leading Management Consultants & Consulting Networks List 2026, marking the second consecutive year the organisation has featured in this highly regarded index of top-performing consulting firms. This year, BMT is recognised in two categories – Aerospace and Defence, and, for the first time, Construction and Infrastructure – underlining both its long-standing role in defence and its growing impact in critical national infrastructure, including ports.

The listing forms part of the Financial Times’ annual collaboration with Statista, which highlights the UK’s leading management consultancies based on independent recommendations from peers and clients. Only 172 unique consultancies are recognised across 16 sectors, 15 consulting services and 11 consulting networks, with more than 4,000 partners and 2,000 executives invited to participate in the surveys, and additional senior stakeholders able to register directly via FT.com.

Alan Hodgson, Senior Business Development Manager – Consulting Services, Central Government and National Security at BMT, said:

"Being recognised by the Financial Times for the second year in a row, and now in two categories, is a testament to the dedication and expertise of our teams. It demonstrates the trust our government, security and infrastructure customers place in us to deliver transformative solutions that strengthen resilience, improve operational readiness and contribute to the UK’s long-term security.

"This recognition also aligns with BMT’s global strategy to innovate, collaborate and invest in the future. As we continue to grow in central government, national security and wider infrastructure, our focus remains on helping customers tackle complex challenges – from digital transformation and cultural change to estates transformation and workplace optimisation – and making a real difference for our customers and communities alike."

New recognition in the Construction and Infrastructure category highlights BMT’s growing role in the design and assurance of critical infrastructure, particularly ports and maritime facilities – a key growth area for both the business and the regions it serves.

Across the UK, EMEA, and Asia–Pacific, BMT’s consultants provide port and marine infrastructure advisory services that span planning, design, resilience and optimisation of ports, terminals and coastal infrastructure, helping customers upgrade and modernise assets to meet future trade, energy transition and climate resilience demands.

Adam Northover, Business Development Manager – Ports, Infrastructure and Environment at BMT, said:

"Ports today face a complex set of pressures: managing rising global trade, decarbonising at pace, and adapting to intensifying climate risks, while also protecting their operations from escalating cyber threats and enhancing physical security. They must achieve all of this without compromising safety, reliability or sustainability

"Having worked across 21 UK ports and led major transformation programmes, I have seen first-hand how data, operational best practice and smart design can unlock capacity and resilience. BMT’s recognition in Construction and Infrastructure reflects the way we are bringing that experience together with our coastal engineering, environmental risk and offshore energy expertise to help ports and coastal communities plan confidently for the future. Whether we are supporting digital harbour management, port master planning or climate adaptation, our goal is to help customers innovate and modernise critical infrastructure in a way that is sustainable, future‑ready and grounded in real‑world port operations."

BMT’s repeated recognition in the Aerospace and Defence category reflects its core focus on defence, where its design, digital, engineering and consulting teams support complex programmes across the UK Ministry of Defence and international defence customers. From ship and combat system design on programmes such as the Royal Navy’s Fleet Solid Support ships, engineering support to the British Army’s Challenger 3 Main Battle Tank and cyber transformation as part of the Defensive Cyber Operations, BMT helps customers move from concept to operational impact more quickly and with greater confidence.

Tim Neild CBE, Head of Business Development, UK & Europe at BMT, said:

"This recognition in Aerospace and Defence reinforces the trust our customers place in BMT to help them shape and deliver complex programmes that are critical to national security.

"We are working alongside our customers to turn concepts into deployable capability, faster and with greater assurance. As the demands on our armed forces grow, so too does the need for partners who can integrate operational insight, innovative design and rigorous programme delivery, and that is exactly where BMT is focused."

The Financial Times list is compiled through an independent process managed by Statista that combines open and anonymous surveys of management consultants and their customers. Recommendations from customers and experts are brought together in a scoring model, and in each sector and consulting service category firms are grouped into Gold, Silver and Bronze tiers based on the strength of recommendations. BMT’s inclusion in the 2026 Special Report confirms its position among the UK’s leading management consultancies and consulting networks.

This latest accolade builds on a strong run of recent recognition for BMT’s consultancy brand. In 2025, BMT was named on Forbes’ World’s Best Management Consulting Firms list and again featured on the Financial Times UK’s Leading Management Consultants list, highlighting the strength and consistency of its advisory services across government, defence and critical industries.

BMT was also honoured at the MCA Awards 2025, where one of its management consultants was recognised in the Team Leader of the Year category, underlining the calibre of its people and its leadership in public sector transformation. In the same year, BMT was appointed as a supplier on Crown Commercial Service’s Management Consultancy Framework Four (MCF4) and, in 2024, on the CCS G-Cloud 14 Framework, enabling central government and public sector customers to access its cloud-based services and consultancy at pace.

Building on being MCA Awards 2023 finalists, BMT continues to enable government and public sector organisations to deliver complex digital and operational change, combining deep technical expertise with agile, evidence-based consultancy.

Together, these accolades underscore BMT’s diversified, scalable consulting offer – spanning defence, ports, infrastructure, energy and resilience – and reinforce its reputation as a trusted partner for tackling complex, real-world challenges.
