Description
The project includes the design and construction of an extension to the existing HMAS Stirling Oxley Wharf and associated infrastructure to support the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) fleet including the future Hunter Class Frigates (HCF) Frigates and Arafura Class Offshore Patrol Vessels (ACOPV); and
(a) the works (and key design scope) include the following:
(i)completion of the following design reports based on the preliminary design (being the completed 30% Concept Design Report) which will be separately prepared and completed by the Commonwealth’s design consultant. It is noted that the contractor is to bear all risks howsoever they may arise as a result of the use of the preliminary design and the use of the preliminary design by the contractor will not affect any of its warranties or other obligations under the contract. In this context the design reports to be completed by the contractor are:
A. 50% Schematic Design Report;
B. 90% Detailed Design Report; and
C. 100% Final Design Report;
(ii) construction of wharf structure on the Oxley Wharf extension including:
A. an in-line138m long by 25m wide wharf deck supported by tubular steel piles;
B. one mooring dolphin at the end of the wharf extension with walkway access;
C. access and egress including turn around points for safe movement and operation of a 12.5m long Heavy Rigid Vehicle design vehicle and a 100t mobile crane;
D. cathodic protection; and
E. a structural design life of 100 years;
(iii) construction of wharf services on the Oxley Wharf extension including:
A. installation of firefighting, potable water and electrical (lighting) mains along the extent of the wharf;
B. provision of wharf lighting; and
C. installation of necessary security systems across the wharf in accordance with Defence’s security requirements; and
(iv) selection, provision and installation of wharf furniture for the Oxley Wharf extension including:
A. fender systems to support the berthing of the HCF and ACOPV fleet;
B. gangway to provide safe access and egress for personnel to vessels at all tides; and
C. safety ladders.
