Astute Electronics announce the launch of a dedicated maritime division, focusing on all areas of Naval and Civil marine
Astute Electronics is delighted to announce the launch of a dedicated maritime division, focusing on all areas of Naval and Civil marine. Astute have worked within the aerospace and defence industry since their inception, with their presence in the area growing exponentially over the last 30+ years, providing services covering the entire span of projects from design-in to through life support.
Whilst servicing the land based defence industry, the Naval sector has been central for Astute, having provided project support on the likes of the Astute Class, Australian Hunter Class and Dreadnought submarines, T26 and T31E combat ships and Future Maritime Support Programme (FMSP) contracts with the QE2 carrier and T45 destroyer. It is not only Naval projects that can benefit from this new division. Astute’s knowledge and high reliability methodology can be applied to unmanned craft and civil marine too, servicing the cruise liners and luxury marine craft sectors.
Jay Hugill, maritime lead said:
“As demand mounts in this sector, Astute has appointed a specialist team, with knowledge on a multitude of project requirements. Previous assignments have involved controls and instrumentation, emergency propulsion systems, communications systems, towed arrays, and power. We’ve always been able to give our clients options and assurances.”
Astute’s scope of supply is inclusive but not restricted to; rapid response to service and repair – keeping ships out of dock as much as possible, electronics, service provisions, kitting and IT hardware, cable assemblies, consumables, hand tools and obsolescence management, including long-term storage. With the latest investments in the next generation of Royal Navy submarines and the announcement of the ‘AUKUS’ initiative, the importance of a stable supply chain becomes even more essential. Astute’s long standing supply chain services, global sourcing and counterfeit mitigation services can help maritime customers avoid the pitfalls of fraudulent parts and component obsolescence.
