Aquatec wins Best Mechanical Engineering Achievement Innovation Award by ASME

Through-water communications and subsea integrity specialist Aquatec was awarded the prestigious Best Mechanical Engineering Achievement Innovation Award by ASME at Offshore Technology Conference in Houston, Texas, on May 1st, 2023.
Founded in 1880 and with a current membership of over 85,000 individuals from 135+ countries, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is the gold-standard professional organisation for the global mechanical engineering community. ASME plays a crucial role in promoting safety and reliability in engineering practices worldwide by developing—and advocating for—the creation of standards and codes.
Since 1996, ASME's Albert Woelfel Best Mechanical Engineering Achievement Innovation Award has been a hallmark of recognition for exceptional contributions to the subsea and offshore industry, solidifying their awardees’ standing as the epitome of mechanical engineering excellence.
Aquatec has been awarded the accolade for its ground-breaking technology, PIPEguardian™. The award-winning system continuously monitors pipeline and seawater temperature to determine reliable internal product thermal conditions. In addition, its straightforward deployment, non-intrusive design, and capacity to be retrofitted onto existing infrastructure make it a unique and valuable tool for ensuring a safe and sustainable subsea operation.
"Aquatec's back-to-back wins of a BMEA award for two consecutive years is a remarkable accomplishment, rarely seen in ASME’s history, that reflects our team's passion. Innovation is one of our four corporate values, and as such, it’s ingrained in our company's DNA. As a result, we consistently strive to develop novel and advanced technologies that address the challenges faced by the offshore industry.” said Andy Smerdon, Managing Director of Aquatec.
“Our PIPEguardian™ system, which offers unobtrusive attachment and unparalleled precision in determining the internal temperature of subsea pipelines, is a testament to our dedication to innovation. We are humbled to be recognised with a BMEA Award again, a distinction that highlights the best mechanical engineering achievements worldwide. At Aquatec, we take pride in pushing the limits and delivering exceptional results to our clients. This recognition reinforces our belief that we are on the right track and encourages us to continue pursuing innovative solutions to tackle the offshore industry's pressing issues."
