SMI Ports & Terminals Group present the Annual Current Trends in Shipping Review 2021 - The Green Transition
Register for the free online symposium here.
This annual symposium, brought to you by the SMI Ports & Terminals Group, will provide vital market intelligence, analysis and insight on an unprecedented year in shipping and takes place on 24th November 2021, 11:00 - 13:00.
More than a year on from peak Covid-19 disruption to seaborne trade, the shipping market has made a strong overall recovery with some individual sectors experiencing exceptional market conditions, often seeing positive impact from major ‘disruption upside’.
Meanwhile, shipping’s ‘Green Transition’ has accelerated as stakeholders embed “green” and “tech” in their post Covid-19 planning, though uncertainties remain around technology, timing and environmental regulation, targets and policies continue to intensify. The future fuel transition is in its very early days but a start has been made. Changes in the energy mix and the transition of offshore energy towards renewables also remain important considerations.
Join us for this free-to-attend online review which provides maritime professionals with expert opinion, analysis and intelligence on the market conditions and dynamics that are shaping the outlook of the shipping sector.
Hear from our expert panel of speakers:
· Richard Greiner – Partner, Shipping & Transport, BDO, will present the highly regarded BDO shipping confidence survey, compiled from the views of industry professionals, covering confidence, investment intention and market expectations. Richard will explore other important business issues including forecast for finance costs and the main drivers of business performance such as demand trends, competition and tonnage supply.
· Trevor Crowe – Director, Clarksons Research, will present a review and analysis of the shipping markets, profiling their strong overall recovery since the peak impacts of Covid-19, along with challenges that stakeholders across the industry continue to face in managing disruption and facilitating shipping’s Green Transition.
· Ian Palacio – Business Development Manager, Portsmouth International Port will provide a specialist perspective on how ports are being reinvented for the green transition and assesses the issues needed to de-risk projects and help meet decarbonisation ambitions.
Participants will also have the opportunity to contribute to an interactive Question and Answer session to address further questions and provide comments to the panel of speakers.
