Member Networking Lunch

Join the SMI Board and the SMI team for a Member Networking Lunch on Thursday 6^th October at 12:30 at the Little Ship Club. This will be a brilliant chance to connect and network with fellow members.

We will be inviting several Board members and CEO who resigned or retired from the Board recently. We would like to celebrate what has been achieved so far this year and look forward to a full and exciting year ahead in 2023.

A three course lunch will be served, along with wine to celebrate.

We will be joined by Zakiy Manji, Director of Parliamentary Relations at BAE Systems, as the Keynote Speaker. In his role, Zakiy is the primary point of contact for Parliamentarians on all issues related to constituency sites, Defence matters, and anything else our Parliamentary stakeholders may require. He also supports the Managing Director of Government Relations (Oliver Waghorn) in the provision of political counsel to the Chairman, Board and Executive Committee.

Prior to joining BAE, Zakiy worked in the international development and security sector, first as a consultant to the UK Home Office, and latterly at a boutique strategic communications agency, where he was Head of Government and External Relations; he worked across a range of themes, including counter-terrorism, counter violent extremism, and counter-disinformation, as well as contributing to the company’s business development activities.
