Defence Attaché Luncheon - Sponsored by Navantia (UK) and Hensoldt (UK)

The Society of Maritime Industries will once again be hosting the overseas naval attachés & advisers based in London for a reception and buffet luncheon.

The event will be held in HMS President, The Ward Room, 72 St Katharine’s Way, London E1W 1UQ 

The date and time are set for Tuesday 15th July 2025 at 12:30.

HMS President is the largest Royal Naval Reserve unit in the country, maintaining a permanent Royal Navy presence in London, whilst offering reservists a full range of RNR career opportunities, combined with a vibrant sports and social programme. Along with its main London presence, an integral part of the Unit is Medway Division, located in the town of Rochester and attracting recruits from Kent, SE London and South Essex.  It is also the home of the Naval Regional Commander for Eastern England who has a remit for industry engagement.   

This is a well-established opportunity to meet and lunch with the official naval representatives from potential customer countries. It is also a good occasion to network with representatives from the National Shipbuilding Office, UK Defence and Security Exports and Ministry of Defence (Naval Staff) as well as the wider Defence Industry as the event is also open to non-SMI members. More than one representative from each company will be most welcome.

Maj Gen Paul Wyatt RM (Director Strategy and Policy and Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff) will be our guest speaker and there will be representatives from Department of Business and Trade (Defence and Security Exports), the National Shipbuilding Office, Defence Equipment Sales Authority, the RN and other various MOD departments.

A list of attachés and advisers who have accepted the invitation, together with a list of Government and defence industry persons attending will be available on the day.
