Creating a Leading Edge – Accelerating Autonomy to Unlock UK Opportunity

Development of skill in autonomy is abundant in the UK but there are barriers to unlocking this opportunity. Current challenges around regulating and assuring autonomous systems are creating a certification gap, which could potentially undermine the UK’s ability to maintain an edge in this domain. At this LISW event, hosted by SMI, industry leaders will share their insights on the regulatory roadmap, appropriate assurance routes and potential ideas for overcoming the barriers to achieving safe and effective MAS operations by UK vessels and in UK waters.

SMI have held two workshops ‘Safe to Operate’ and ‘Operated Safely’ – ensuring that designers/builders and operators have a common understanding of the design and operational spaces to enable safe collaborative solutions. The outcomes of these workshops will be presented at this LISW/DSEI event.
