MarRI-UK Announces the UK's Academic Capacity and Capability for Shipbuilding Report
Maritime Research and Innovation UK (MarRI-UK) have announced the publication of The UK’s Academic Capacity and Capability for Shipbuilding Report funded by the National Shipbuilding Office (NSO). This report aims to provide insight into the UK’s current research capabilities, understand what other nations are doing and provide recommendations to industry and government for enhanced competitiveness.
Maritime Defence and Security Group Visit to Portsmouth
This week, the Maritime Defence and Security Group Council, along with representatives from other member companies, conducted a two-day visit to Portsmouth. The visit was held on Monday and Tuesday, 27th and 28th November 2023. The group participated in various activities during the visit, such as briefs and tours at Portsdown Technology Park and the Maritime Integration and Systems Centre. They also enjoyed dinner in the Historic Dockyard and visited Navy Command Headquarters, including an MDSG Council Meeting.
Royal Navy Seeks Insights on Augmented Reality for Naval Ship Bridges
In a forward-looking move, the Royal Navy has initiated an exploration into the potential applications of Augmented Reality (AR) technology on Naval Ship Bridges. This development is part of the NavyX Augmented Reality in Ships Bridge Operations project. As of now, the Royal Navy has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to industry experts, inviting insights and proposals on the innovative use of AR in ship operations. Responses to this RFI must be submitted by 12:00 on Tuesday, 19th December 2023. Call for Solutions: Sustainable Water Production in Remote Locations
The Royal Navy and US Navy are faced with a critical challenge – ensuring a sustainable supply of potable water in austere locations, particularly on San Clemente Island (SCI), without relying on external electricity or significant infrastructure.
