This month, meet Phoebe Chadwick, an Ocean Scientist at RS Aqua, who embarked on her maritime career through a 10-week graduate training project that bridged her transition from university to the industry. At RS Aqua, she engages with underwater acoustic monitoring, fish tracking, aquaculture, and ocean robotics, fostering a dynamic career in maritime technology.
BMT's Success at the EIC National Awards 2023
BMT made an impact at the Energy Industries Council (EIC) National Awards Ceremony 2023, securing the Culture Award and earning a finalist spot in the Sustainability category. The awards took place in London on the 19th of October, where over 60 energy companies competed in various categories.

SeaBot Maritime's Exclusive VIP Briefing Showcases Future of Maritime Operations
SeaBot Maritime hosted a VIP briefing on Monday 23rd October at the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton, providing an exclusive insight into the future of maritime operations. The attendees had the chance to witness MASS training in progress. The eventtraining marked the convergence of commercial and military interests, with delegates from the Royal Navy's NavyX programme joining commercial trainees for specialised training in remote operations with uncrewed surface vessels. This 10-day trainingevent course, held from 16th to 27th October, also introduced the Navy's developmental vessel, the Patrick Blackett, into the training programme.

OceanWise and Foreshore Technology have formed a strategic alliance to incorporate real-time tide level data into the 'Dredge Master System,' offering dredging operators the advantage of working in sync with current water levels, thereby enhancing efficiency. The collaboration between OceanWise and Foreshore Technology streamlines the amalgamation of the Dredge Master System with the environmental data platform Port-Log, streamlining the convergence of essential data into a reliable real-time repository.
Cutting-edge ecoCAM Camera Enhances ecoSUBm5-Power+ AUV Systems
In a significant advancement for autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), the ecoSUB team presents the ecoCAM, a state-of-the-art 4k video and still image camera seamlessly integrated into the ecoSUBm5-Power+ AUV system. The camera offers high-quality imagery and is ideal for machine learning applications. It features a 1.1" Sony IMX267 global shutter CMOS sensor and a Computar fixed 8mm lens, delivering impressive image reproduction (8.85 MPix at 33.0 fps). The ecoCAM employs Subsea USBC data transfer, ensuring efficient data transmission for video encoding on a Jetson Orin Nano computer, a significant technological feat in the underwater domain.
Macduff Ship Design Delivers Tugs and Innovates for the Future
Macduff Ship Design has achieved a series of recent milestones, signifying its commitment to delivering top-notch ASD (Azimuth Stern Drive) tugs and pioneering advancements in tug technology. These developments represent significant strides in the maritime industry. Beyond this ambitious project, Macduff Ship Design aims to extend this concept to smaller and larger tugboats and various other vessel types, revolutionising the maritime landscape.
Echandia receives order from Ö-varvet for two battery systems
Echandia has received an order from Ö-varvet to supply two vessels, Älvsnabben 4 & 5, with battery systems to enable full electrical propulsion. The battery systems will each have a capacity of 496 kWh. The total cost of ownership, combined with Echandias battery systems high level of safety and outstanding long lifetime were key factors in selecting Echandia as battery supplier.
