Marine Autonomous Systems are of increasing importance to a wide range of sectors, including marine scientific and survey, offshore resource exploitation, maritime transport and defence and maritime security operations.  The UK is a technology leader in this area and the Maritime Autonomous Systems Group (MASG) Council aims to enhance this reputation and encourage development and take-up of MAS technologies in the UK.

A key part of this mission is to encourage young technologists working in this area and help to develop careers that contribute to the future of the UK’s MAS industry.  Last year, the MASG Council launched a competition for UK-based students in support of this mission, but unfortunately had to cancel the in-water finals due to the Covid-19 pandemic. As a consequence, the Council is re-launching the competition with a modified scope to take account of Covid-19 restrictions, which will culminate in a series of remote on-water challenges at the Timsbury Lake ship handling centre in Hampshire in November 2021.

If you are interested in participating in MAChallenge, please register you interest by emailing by 12:00 9th April. Please include names of all team members.
