The Government has launched its ambitious Maritime 2050 strategy. Developed with industry and outlining long-term ambitions for the future of the UK Maritime sector.

Alongside this DfT are delighted to launch ‘Technology and Innovation in UK Maritime’ route map. The route map sets out key policy ambitions for developing innovative technologies here in the UK, using maritime autonomy as a case study. You can find the route map here.

David Kenrick, DfT said:

"This document, and the broader strategy, represent a great deal of hard work and input from yourselves and we hope you’ll be impressed with what we’ve produced. On behalf of myself and the Maritime Technology and Innovation team, I would like to express my gratitude for your willingness to engage, your insights, and your generosity in identifying and testing the ambitions we’ve outlined. It’s been my pleasure to work with so many of you over the last 14 months".

This route map is only the start of a new journey. DfT and the MCA have outlined an exciting and ambitious policy programme over the next few years, and invite you all to continue working closely with them as it is implemented.
