SMI returns from Singapore after bringing the UK Pavilion to Sea Asia 2017

The Society of Maritime Industries (SMI) organised the UK Pavilion at the Sea Asia exhibition in Singapore recently. The Sea Asia exhibition is the core event of the Singapore Maritime Week which features a plethora of conferences and industry events.

UK Pavilion at Sea Asia 2017Even with with difficult market conditions currently, companies in the UK group and out in the exhibition said the exhibition had brought in local and regional contacts that were keen to do business.

Tom Chant, Director of the SMI said:

“Companies are always positive at shows but the UK companies I talked to had reason to be. They had met partner companies, learnt about new projects and had a good stack of enquiries to follow up on.  Singapore is such a maritime hub that perhaps you can’t go wrong coming here and networking – good old business development.”

One of companies in the UK group was EOS Risk Group.  They managed a number of company visits before, during and after the exhibition to maximise their presence at the exhibition.

Mark Pearce from EOS Risk Group said:

“Sea Asia proved to be a very productive and well supported expo bringing together the great and the good of the regions maritime organisations.  The expo gave us an opportunity to really engage with both current and prospective customers in a meaningful way that demonstrated our commitment to South East Asia and allowed us to fully understand the drivers in the region and how our new services will support them moving forward.”

Tim Ingram from Marine Data Systems said:

“We had a very busy and positive Sea Asia show.  We managed to meet most of our local distributors and ran some training sessions on two of our new products including the recently launched GNSS Compass.  Importantly we also talked to several more potential Bridge Integrators from around the region and learnt about several new potential projects.  By being in Singapore we were able to progress several ongoing projects and are now looking forward to some very positive outcomes in the next 3-4 months.”

The SMI will be back in Singapore for the Asia Pacific Maritime (APM) exhibition in March 2018.
