WFW expands Hong Kong Maritime practice with new Partner hire

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) is pleased to announce that it is expanding its highly regarded Maritime practice in Hong Kong with the addition of new Partner Guan Jian, who joins the firm today.

Prior to joining WFW, Guan Jian was the senior in-house legal counsel at China Merchants Commerce Financial Leasing (“CMF Leasing”) in Shenzhen, People’s Republic of China (“PRC”).

Guan Jian has both private practice and in-house expertise, having started his career at Wang Jing & Co, one of the PRC’s leading maritime law firms, where he regularly represented and advised clients in complex litigation and arbitration cases in the PRC, Hong Kong and London.

He then moved into in-house practice with ICBC Leasing, the fast growing leasing arm of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, now the world’s largest financial group, before taking on his role with CMF Leasing.

WFW Hong Kong Office Head Madeline Leong commented:

“Guan Jian’s background, extensive experience and expertise within the maritime and energy sectors make him a perfect addition to WFW Hong Kong. I’m truly delighted to welcome him to the firm”.

Guan Jian added:

“Joining an international law firm with an unrivalled reputation for excellence in the maritime sector such as WFW is the ideal move for me to improve and expand the service I can offer to my clients. I greatly look forward to working closely with my new colleagues in both Hong Kong and across the firm’s international network to help expand the firm’s footprint in the key PRC market”.
