Developing countries are investing in the quality of their ports infrastructure and in improving port operational efficiency as a vital part of their drive to improve logistics performance, enable international trade and speed economic growth. Our experts explore the opportunities for, and some of the issues with, port infrastructure and port operational development projects in developing countries.
SPEAKERS AND PRESENTATIONS:
- “Guinea, Columbia, Cuba: three very different business environments”. Chris Leonard, Business Development Director of Nectar Group Ltd, will talk about the opportunities, the issues, and the solutions they have adopted in development projects in these very different countries.
- “Indonesia: new port capacity”. Indonesia ranks 46th on the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index but only 72nd on the World Economic Forum’s Quality of Port Infrastructure measure. Dr Phil Thompson, Managing Director at BMT, outlines market developments, how BMT is supporting port infrastructure development and the wider opportunities and challenges for UK businesses.
