Multiple ship search
This facility retrieves details of groups of vessels, managers or shipyards against a range of search criteria. Searching From the Home Page select the Ships database, multiple ship search link. This will open the multiple ship search page and provide options to select a number of different criteria. Searches can be compiled by selecting fields from one or more of the categories displayed. It should be noted that the default for the ‘Ship manager’ and ‘Ship builder’ categories is set to ‘starting’, although this can be changed by clicking on the ‘contains’ radio button. The Output display default is set to ‘Ships’ but can be amended to ‘Managers’ or ‘Builders’ for those ships that match the search criteria. Select the ‘Search’ button to start the search. Setting criteria for Ship manager Country and Shipbuilder Country: When choosing Japan or the United States, the two Japan codes (Japan and Japan 1) and the three United States Codes (United States, United States 1 and 2) should be selected - by holding down the Control Key. When choosing Ship manager Country = Germany, the Germany (East) and Germany(West) codes should be ignored. In the event that the search returns no results or a new search is required, clicking on the ‘Multiple Ship Search’ links will return you to the initial search page. Helpful Hint – The Back and Forward buttons on the menu bar can also be used to navigate within the system. However care should be taken when returning to the initial search screen as the original search criteria will not be cleared. This can be achieved by selecting the ‘Reset’ button. Sorting The search will return either single or multiple matches depending on the search criteria entered. In the event that the search returns more than 10 matches, the horizontal arrows (< < > >) can be used to scroll up and down the pages. The results can also be sorted in to ascending and descending order using the vertical arrows (st) by field. It should be noted that all pages and not just the display page are re-sorted when using this option.
