Offshore industries including renewable energy

This market area provides the focus for members of the Society of Maritime Industries (SMI) with interests in the business of supplying systems, equipment and services to any offshore activity but in particular the offshore energy industry.

Typically member companies develop specialist offshore systems and equipment and provide services and facilities around the world for offshore renewable energy installations and the oil and gas industry, including for LNG terminals and storage, FLNG vessels and facilities and FPSO platforms.

Also associated with this market are those companies which supply equipment and services for every type of offshore facility and vessel associated with the exploration and production of energy resources, from low tonnage workboats to fixed, floating and semi-submersible platforms.

Activities include:

  • Organising the UK group, often in association with DIT, to major international trade shows
  • Facilitating outward and inward trade missions to create business opportunities through greater international co-operation
  • Arranging information briefings on key developments in the market
  • Organising networking opportunities with those who have a common interest in the offshore energy market

The ABOI Council sets the policy and guides the activities of this market area, utilising the extensive expertise of its members. A list of council members can be found here.
