THE PORT OF TYNE

The Port of Tyne has changed with the times to meet the needs of the global economy and its customers and has invested over £130 million in infrastructure over the past decade.  It is now one of the UK's largest car exporting ports and one of the largest handlers of wood pellet in the world.

There are five commercial Business Areas: Conventional & Bulk, Car Terminals, Cruise and Ferry, Containers & Logistics, and Estates.

The Port adds £680m to the regional economy of the North East supporting 14,000 jobs directly and indirectly. The organisation has undergone a cultural and commercial transformation. It has achieved national quality standards for Investors in People and international standards for health & safety and environmental practices.

The Port contributes 1% of profit to a community action fund, has an active role in the region’s business activities, and supports many community, business and cultural institutions.
