Tuesday 7 March 2017
Venue: Australia Centre | The Strand | London | WC2B 4LG
With the ever increasing importance of the Far East and the Western Pacific basin as an area of international strategic significance and growing economic prosperity, the future naval procurement programme of Australia is currently enjoying close attention from the Australian government.
This renewed interest presents improving prospects for business opportunities particularly for UK companies working in the maritime industries. There are of course difficulties to be overcome but these are not insurmountable and the cultural advantages of a common language and business processes, which Anglo-Saxon countries enjoy, goes a long way to resolving these.
The seminar is particularly timely given the forthcoming International Maritime Exhibition in Sydney, Pacific 2017, next October. It seeks to acquaint companies with the future Australian naval procurement programmes and in particular the Offshore Patrol Vessels, frigates and submarines which will be built in the shipyard development in Adelaide in the State of South Australia. The presentation and panel discussion will also focus on the approaches that UK companies should adopt to overcome perceived difficulties of entering the Australian naval and maritime market.
The seminar will be held in the Downer Room at Australia Centre in The Strand in London on Tuesday 7 March 2017. Registration will begin at 1000 and the presentation will start at 1030. On completion delegates are invited to a networking buffet luncheon.
Presentations will be given by senior members from the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) of the Australian Government, formerly known as the Defence Materiel Organisation.
There will also be presentations from Mr Alexis Hammer, Regional Director, Americas, East Asia & Australasia, UK Defence & Security Organisation at the Department of International Trade. On completion, the Pacific 2017 exhibition in October 2017 will be introduced by Mr Geoff Walls, the Pacific 2017 UK agent.
